Teenager charged with baby murder

Carl Alesbrook, 18, of Matlock, is alleged to have killed his partner's son, Elijah Shemwell, at an address in Belper in January 2022. Officers were called to an address in Acorn Drive just before 10.50pm on Sunday January 2 following a report that a young baby was in cardiac arrest. Elijah, who was four months old, was taken to hospital by ambulance but died on Wednesday 5 January.
