Jackson interview SOT
- I think in Barack we will see the fulfillment of the promise in the Promised Land. This is the continuation of a journey. He ran the last leg magnificently. Americans are moving beyond the limits of race and gender to make big decisions and this is having an impact all over the world.
- He is inheriting an economy and foreign policy in crisis. In Iraq we've lost lives and money and honour. It's compounded by the crisis, tension with Iran and Afghanistan; now India and Pakistan. Our world is in great turmoil in terms of foreign policy.
- Barack represents three things: trust, at a time when there is such distrust in President Bush, hope and redemption.
- Doubt I'll get beyond the joy of that moment (of seeing Obama inaugurated) but am glad to be alive to see it.
