MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Director of Aboriginal Art at Sotheby's, Tim Klingender inspects a painting by Rover Thomas which is hoped to become the first painting by an aboriginal painter to fetch more than one million Australian dollars (700,000 USD), in Melbourne, 23 July 2004. The collection of paintings is the largest and most valuable ever assembled for auction with collectors from around the world bidding for the 595 works of art valued inexcess of eight million Australian dollars (5.6 million USD) with the highlight being Thomas's only known painting of Uluru (Ayers Rock).
