Silver scabbardfish (Lepidopus caudatus, also frostfish, beltfish) - cutlassfish of the family Trichiuridae found throughout the temperate seas of the world. The distribution area of the predatory fish, which is up to two meters (6 ft 7 in) long, extends from the north and south of the Atlantic across the south of the Indian Ocean to the south of the Pacific.
