Historical view of the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren on the Grütschalp (1487 m). In the background the view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. Opened in 1891, the line runs from here to Mürren via a four-kilometer-long narrow-gauge railway with a track width of one meter and a maximum gradient of 50 ‰ (see illustration). The lower section of the line from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp was covered for years by a funicular, and since 2006 by an aerial cable car. Halftone print based on a photograph, published in 1895.
