SAKHALIN, RUSSIA - SEP. 2: Russian president Vladimir Putin attended the commemorative event to mark the 70th anniversary of end of the second world war in Chita, in Eastern Siberia. Putin laid flower on the monument the war dead. It was the first time Russian head of state joined such event held anywhere in the Far Eastern part of the country on September 2, which Moscow designates as the anniversary of end of the second world war. Former Soviet Union invaded Japan in early August in violation of then effective Japan-Soviet Neutral. -- This video shows scenery of military parade held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
