The T-54 is a medium battle tank designed in the Soviet Union and built starting in 1947. It was a development of the T-44 . With around 40,000 units built, the T-54 is one of the most-produced main battle tanks in the world. The largest deployments of the T-54 took place during the Vietnam War.
