New Delhi, 11 August 2019, India Jama Masjid, also known as the Friday Mosque, has the honor of being the largest mosque in India. It can host up to 25,000 devotees and is located in front of the Red Fort, on top of a hill. Its construction dates back to 1644 and it was taken as a model for the Agra mosque. In Jama Masjid we find three large doors, four towers and some spectacular minarets of red sandstone and white marble that are 40 meters high and can be accessed via a staircase. The construction is topped with three black and white marble domes. As we see in the image, faithful and tourists crowd in front of the lavish building, some to contemplate its beauty, others to pray.
