William McMahon, then foreign minister, and his wife, decked out in billowing maxi-skirt slit to the thigh, leave Parliament House, March 9th, a day before the ruling Liberal Party ousted Prime Minister John G. Gorton and named McMahon to replace him. The blonde, svelte Mrs. McMahon, who married her former bachelor husband in 1957 and who is 24 years his junior, is likely to become a major figure in the social life of Canberra, a normally staid capital.
