Pedestrians Passing Banner Depicting Cuban Pride

(Original Caption) Bay of Pigs, Cuba: When 1,500 Cuban-exiles invaded their homeland on April 17, 1961, the motherland fought for the first time under the banner of socialism and delt the US-backed force a resounding defeat. The billboard in the little resort town of Giron, about 50 yards from Playa Giron and one of the landing places, expresses the pride Cubans view their victory with. Referring to their name for the battle of the Bay of Pigs, it reads "Giron Beach, the first great defeat in Latin America."
