Aerial View of Vizcaya

(Original Caption) The home of the late James Deering, known as Vizcaya, built at a cost of $15,000,000 and regarded as the most palatial private residence in history, is open again for the second time in almost a quarter of a century. Once before the magnificent home was open to the public. Since Mr. Deering's death, the mansion and the gardens have been kept in perfect condition in respect to his wishes. Here is shown the 17th century Italian Gardens located between the marble white residence (at upper center) and the Open Air Casino (foreground). Here is to be found the most extensive array of original early Venetian and Italian garden sculpture of any estate in America.
