The German delegation, including German Admiral Hans-Georg von Friedeburg, General Eberhard Kinzel and Rear Admiral Gerhard Wagner, leaves the tent at British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery's tactical headquarters on the Timeloberg hill, in Lüneburg, Germany, where they signed the act of unconditional surrender of the German forces in the Netherlands, northwest Germany including all islands, in Denmark and all naval ships in those areas, on 4 May 1945 in Lüneburg, Germany. The Act of Unconditional Surrender of German Troops in North-West Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark (or Lüneburg Convention), was signed on 4 May 1945, before the Act of Military Surrender of German Armed Forces signed on 7 May in Reims, France and re-signed on 8 May in Berlin, which marked the end of World War II in Europe.
