Riot police officers take cover from molotov cocktails thrown by demonstrators as clashes break out during a rally as part of a general strike called by unions to mark the second anniversary of the country's worst rail tragedy that left 57 dead on February 28, 2023, in front of the Greek parliament, in Athens on February 28, 2025. The unions have called for a general strike in the private and public sectors which will particularly affect transport. Trains, ferries, buses, trams, and taxis will be almost at a standstill while numerous flights have been cancelled. About 300.000 demonstrators demand answers on the exact causes of this head-on collision between two trains are planned in more than 200 cities in Greece as well as abroad.
