Ralph Boston Landing on His Record Breaking Olympic Jump

(Original Caption) Ralph Boston of Nashville, Tennessee, officially breaking the world's long jump record in the final U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials is shown with a jump of 27 feet, 4 1/4 inches, with an allowable trailing wind of only one meter per second. Earlier he got off a tremendous jump of 27-10 1/4. This would not count as a record, however, because of a trailing wind that was too strong.
