SPORT-AUTO-24 HOURS OF LE MANS-ENDURANCE
Race drivers run to their cars to take the start of the 22nd edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans car race, on June 12, 1954 on the circuit of Le Mans, western France, using the "Le Mans" type start, in force until 1971, which consists, for the pilots, of crossing the track running, before getting into the cars. 150,000 people attended the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1954 Race. The first edition of the endurance race was run on May 26 and 27, 1923. The 22nd edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans took place on June 12 and 13, 1954 and was won by Scuderia Ferrari with drivers French Maurice Trintignant and Argentinean José Froilan Gonzalez, who set the lap record at an average of 189 km/h, just ahead of the Jaguar of Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton.
