APR 30 1954, MAY 2 1954; Nuclear Tests & Explosions - U.S.; Models of a house shattered in the Yucca Flats A-bomb tests, and experimental shelters in its basement, are examined by (left to right) Lt. Gen. Henry L. Larsen, state civil defense director, Lt. Col. John P. Doidge, field deputy, and Mrs. Georgina Brown, in charge of women's civil defense work. The Models were built by seven junior high school instructions at the request of General Larsen. They will be used to show the public how practical shelters can be built economically. Colonel Doidge is holding a picture of the house blown apart by the A-bomb blast, while General Larsen points to a model of one of the test shelters which survived the blast.; (Photo By Al Moldvay/The Denver Post via Getty Images)
