3/2004 Mound, MN--Michael Blood was an Edina cop, just 29 days from retirement when he was on the wcdene of a bank robbery and nearly (leterally) shot to death by the perp. The robber is dead, Michael has since suffered through 18 surgeries and is walking. The bullets that ripped through his body tore apart his right leg, took half of his back out and left him pretty crippled, but through much physical therapy, unable to do very few things by himself. Remarkably he can walk, although with a limp and pursue his passion...fishing. Michael has a little trouble getting into his boat, he says he 'sort of' crawls or flops into it. He and his wife Cheri so a lot of speaking to groups. One of the most frustrating for Michael is not to be able to get his own socks on.
