(Original Caption) 11/26/1956-Melbourne, Australia- Egil Danielsen of Norway heaves the javelin for a world record of 281 feet, 2 1/4 inches to win an Olympic gold medal. Phil Conley finished 10th for the United States, and Cy Young of Modesto, California, who led the javelin qualifiers with a throw of 245 feet, 3 1/4 inches, came in 11th. Young won the event in the 1952 Olympics.
