08_01_04_COLORADO SPRINGS,CO--AIR FORCE ACADEMY--First year incoming freshman to the United States Air Force Academy have spent almost 6 weeks at Jacks Valley on the Air Force campus where they have undergone extreme physical training for their Basic Cadet Training <Cq>. The culmination which is the final Sweepstakes competition that pitted squadrons against each other to see who has the fastest, strongest and best squadron. The Basic Cadet Training camp this year comprised of about 1300 cadets <cq> broken up into 9 squadrons <cq>. The squadrons competed in a multitude of events including PFT or Personal Fitness Training <cq>, which included pull-ups, long jump, sit ups, push ups and a 600 meter run to finish, AFT <cq> or Aerobic Fitness Training <cq> which included a longer distance run of 1 1/2 miles, a Confidence Course <cq>, an Obstacle Course <cq> and an Bayonet Assault Course <cq> and ended with the Big Bad Basic pugil stick fighting competition <cq>. The training will end on Thursday August 5th <cq> with the Warrior Run <cq> a 36.8 mile <cq> team run <cq> followed by the Acceptance Parade <Cq> on August 10th <cq>.
