BETWEEN THE STREETS OF MOLFETTA, MOLFETTA, BARI, ITALY - 2017/02/28: Every year in Molfetta, on the night of shrove tuesday and ash wednesday, the Church of Purgatory, by the Arciconfraternita della Morte comes a large black wooden latin cross bearing, at the junction of vertical arm with the horizontal one, a round with the face of Christ, still alive, with his eyes open. This cross is the same before processional marches of Our Passion Friday and Mercy Holy Saturday. Tuesday night, at the stroke of midnight, the people of Molfetta will rally around his cross, participating softly to the first lenten penitential procession through the streets of the city.
