EU EcoFin Ministers Meeting

Today, the Hungarian presidency will present its priorities and work programme in the field of economic and financial affairs. The Council will discuss the existence of an excessive deficit in seven member states: Belgium, France, Italy, Hungary, Malta, Poland and Slovakia. It will also discuss the fact that Romania, which is under an excessive deficit procedure since 2020, has not taken effective action to remedy this situation. The European Commission and the European Central Bank will present convergence reports followed by an exchange of views by ministers.
