Cleveland Baseball Action on The Field
(Original Caption) Cleveland's Al Rosen, (background right), is forced out at second on Dave Philley's grounder to shortstop Phil Rizzuto, who threw to second baseman Gerry Coleman, (background left), who registered the kill, then fired to Joe Collins, (15) for the double play in the second inning of the July 12th game at Yankee Stadium. Philley is shown at left running for the bag, while Cleveland Coach Red Kress (42), looks on. The Yankees fought back to stay in the Pennant Race, just when it seemed league leading Cleveland might pull away, by winning 4-3 in the 11th inning when Andy Carey hit a bases loaded single to break a 3-3 tie.
