Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Cenotaph dedicated to actress Hattie McDaniel, 1895-1952, at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. She wished to be buried at the cemetery orginally with her contemporaries, but was denied because of her race. She was the first African American to win an Academy Award for her performance in "Gone with The Wind." The dedication was later erected in 1999 by the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The historic Hollywood Forever Cemetery is where many of Hollywood's major talent and players are buried. (Photo by Ted Soqui/Corbis via Getty Images)
