LOSANGELES.MT.072: LOSANGELES.MT.072: After a 5hour skingraft surgery at Shriners Hospitals for ChildrenLos Angeles, July 23, 2007, Arefa, in severe post surgery pain, seeks comfort with her ÒSolaceÓ Host Mom, Jami Valentine. Shriners Plastic Surgeon Dr John Lorant donated his medical treatment for free to the 6yearold who sustained 3rd degree burns to her body and head when her Afghan tent caught fire following IED exploded. The little Afghan Nomad child has had an open headword since she the incident happen in the war torn country when she was 3. An organization called Solas brought a group of six children from Afghanistan to the Redondo Beach area to receive medical treatment and live with host families. The children stay for six weeks and during the time the families show them around and take them to soccer games, museums, etc. Arefa will stay longer for further medical treatment.
