Afghan people are seen in front of the shrine of Hazrat-i-Ali, also called the Blue Mosque, in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, north of Kabul, 05 April 2007. The Hazrat-i-Ali shrine, the main architectural element in Mazar-i-Sharif, was covered with earth to escape the ravage of Genghis Khan in 1220 and remained lost until it was uncovered during the rebuilding work in 1480s.
