Syrian cat "Baris" finds loving home at a bookstore in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, TURKEY - APRIL 13: Cat named Baris (Peace in Turkish) that was rescued by Turkish soldiers in Syria's al-Bab during Operation Euphrates Shield has found a new permanent and loving home at an Istanbul bookstore. It was brought to the country after a Turkish soldier discovered the fluffy animal starving in the war-torn town. The Kirmizi Kedi (Red Cat) Publishing House has adopted eight-month old Baris after Specialized Sgt. Omer Ozkan brought the cat to Turkey from the ruins of al-Bab, which was liberated from Daesh by Free Syrian Army (FSA) forces backed by the Turkish Military in February. (02:07:10 - 02:27:04) The fact that Baris will live in a publishing house whose name is ‘Red Cat’ is the right ending for his own story. The humanity that our soldier showed should not be left half-finished. Baris is the legacy of bitter events in Syria and our soldiers there … Baris (Peace) came to Kirmizi Kedi and I hope ‘peace’ will also come to Syria and Middle East,” said Haluk Hepkon, the owner of the Red Cat Publishing House in Istanbul. (02:31:13 - 02:53:03) “He is now our most precious member of staff,” Hepkon said, adding that their priority is now to make Baris feel safe at his new home.
