Jan. 9, 2014, Las Vegas, Nevada --- The iconic "Welcome To Las Vegas" sign built in 1959, is now powered by solar energy as of Jan. 8. The three 25- foot tall 'Solar Tree' towers, with photovoltiac cell arrays , power the famous sign.
